Official Magic: The Gathering Arena Trailer
Magic: The Gathering Arena is the newest videogame adaptation of the classic trading card game. In this game you’re building your own deck of cards with unique synergies, creatures, spells and resources and try to overpower your foes in intense one on one turn-based combat. In Magic: The Gathering Arena it all comes down to pure strategy and eventually some luck of the draw. If there is one game out there that truly deserves the label “easy to learn but hard to master”, then it is Magic: The Gathering Arena. A game that will put your strategic skills to the ultimate test.
Animated, polished and better than ever before:
In the past twenty years there have been quite a few undertakings in order to produces a worthy videogame adaption of Magic: The Gathering. Most of them were pretty lackluster and never quite reached the success of the original. Magic: The Gathering Arena wants to change that and we could tell right from the get go. With polished and modern graphics, unique animations and effects, the cards become really alive on the battlefield. What you get is also the full package, containing almost all of the modern era cards, resulting in hundreds of different cards, each and every single one of them with unique effects and individual characteristics. The absolute dream come true for every collector.
Collect and conquer:
One of the core features of Magic: The Gathering Arena is its deck building. Before you jump into a match you have to basically prepare a set of cards which you want to bring into the next encounter. While the whole ordeal can be pretty overwhelming for newcomers, Magic: The Gathering Arena does a great job in finding the balance between providing a decent and comprehensive tutorial while also refraining from too much handholding. From there on onward you are basically choosing a color that you want to play. A color? Exactly, because in Magic: The Gathering Arena each of the five colors (White, Blue, Green, Red, Black). Each has its very distinctive set of creatures, spells and general handling. Black for example has mostly “evil” units, like zombies, monstrosities and all sorts of vampires and other nasty creatures. White on the other hand has stuff like angels, protective spells and we think you get the idea. Once you choose a color of your liking you’re basically ready to dive deep into the world of Magic and oh boy, you will go deep.
This game is the epitome of “easy to learn but hard to master”:
Once you figured out the basics, like the way the turn based combat works and what phases each turn has, you’re already familiar with the essentials. But where do you go from there? Well, this is the absolute best about Magic: The Gathering Arena, because the answer is: anywhere and everywhere. Because of the huge amount of colors, spells and cards in general, you have so many opportunities to build your deck, build your strategy and let the battle unfold in numerous ways. For example, back in our day, one strategy was it to mass rat creature cards in your deck. Why, you are asking? Well, the answer is: Rats are weak on their own but as soon as you stack rat creature cards, the other rat cards get a bonus to their attack and defense. You can imagine what happens when your whole deck is basically one filthy rat nest. Magic: The Gathering Arena really is like a massive box of opportunities and viable strategies and discovering them and using them to overpower your foes is why this game is so much fun.

Hundreds of cards, thousands of opportunities and strategies and in the middle of all that is you, the aspiring champion. True, this game can be punishing for newcomers, especially when you’re facing veterans but aside from that, there is no similar game within this genre which is even nearly as rewarding to master as Magic: The Gathering Arena is.
