While initially everything seems to go smoothly and our heroes are trying their best to overshadow each other with flashy attacks, a towering dragon emerges before us. Within seconds our party has been reduced to cinders and we’re greeted by the guardian spirit of Teleria. She can only resurrect one of these brave souls and so we have to make a decision. In our play through we chose the Templar, a melee based character that offers a well-rounded mix of strong melee attacks and a sturdy defense. Other options would have been for example an orc barbarian or a nimble high elf archer – all of which looked pretty damn impressive for a free to play titles. Outstanding visuals and sound Outstanding is most likely the correct word to describe the overall visual appearance of Raid: Shadow Legends. The graphics are simply marvelous, especially for a free to play game that is also playable on your phone. The attacks, the animations and even the professional voice over really left us surprised. Raid: Shadow Legends is a game that definitely had some production value and it shows every second. No matter if you’re in combat, in your base overview or in one of the many dialogues throughout your campaign to reconquer Telaria, Raid: Shadow Legends is a real piece of eye candy. Form a new band of heroes Since your friends have just been roasted by that dragon, you are beginning your adventure on your own. Soon after though you will meet your first new allies that usually can be acquired in the form of rare crystals. These crystals basically hold a sort of essence within them that can be unlock by the spirit guardian of Telaria. Depending on the rarity of the crystal you will be able to recruit powerful allies into your service. Each of these allies comes with a unique set of skills that can not only be developed but also needs to be adjusted in accordance with the type of foe you are fighting. Use your footmen, archers and other unique units to the best of their abilities and try to attack your foes where they expect it the least. Sheer numbers are good to have but having an adaptive mix of units that complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses that is something that is nearly unstoppable. Heroes, friends and more To supplement your army you can assign certain heroes to your units. These absolutely unique beings act as a sort of commanding officer within your ranks, providing you with significant buffs to your formation and army roster. By keeping these heroes in your ranks and upgrading their gear, you can substantially enhance the overall effectiveness of your army. Another way to do that is to cooperate with your friends. Shooter – The developers that brought you the free to play hit War Thunder just opened the gates to another title that many have hoped for. With the upcoming closed beta test of Enlisted, the scales of war are about to shift once again. Enlisted is the not only long awaited but also free to play infantry addition to the War Thunder universe and we managed to get our hands on it. Here is our war report. As one of many soldiers, either fighting for the axis or allies, its your job to dominate the battlefield and take over critical objectives in order to win the round. Fight as a normal recruit, a tank commander or even a pilot and make sure that your team takes the victory. Cooperate with others, outsmart and outplay your rivals and tip the scales of war in your favor. Large scale warfare Its not surprising that a company like Gaijin, which already made one of the most successful tank simulators, tried to bring the same level of realism to Enlisted. Playing this game for a few hours has made it very clear that they succeeded. It doesn’t even matter if you’re fighting on the shores of the Normandy or on the ravaged countryside of the Russian motherland, the level design is marvelous and allows for non-stop action between the two rival factions. In addition to that it should be noted that more than a hundred players at a time can be on the same warzone. Authentic weaponry and uniforms Another detail that Enlisted really picked up on was the implementation of authentic weaponry and uniforms. Wield the iconic Mosin Nagant on the side of the Russian forces or embrace your trust Karabiner 98 and go for those juicy one-taps on other players. Unlike in some other shooters, a hit to the center of the body is usually a death sentence in Enlisted. Its pretty easy to kill and be killed – something that can easily be forgotten in the way other games do portrait wars. The consequence is that Enlisted usually favors a methodical playstyle that rewards squads that strategize, flank and trying to take key objectives on the map. In that regard its pretty safe to say that Enlisted is direct more towards a mature audience that is looking for an authentic world war two shooter and less for an arcadelike run and gun. Twelve special classes – one for each job Potentially one of the most interesting features of Enlisted is its class system. As of now you get to choose between twelve different classes, each of those having its own unique perks. While its pretty obvious what a Sniper might do on the battlefield, there are others like the Radio Operator or the Engineer, which should also be part of any team. The aforementioned Radio Operator is needed to call in heavy artillery strikes to level enemy fortifications and allow for your infantry or tanks to push. The engineer on the other hand does actually build most of the fortifications. Sand bags, MG nests and AT guns are only some of the things an engineer can bring to the battlefield. The maps in Enlisted are not only huge but also beautifully rich and really carry the theme of the historical battle with them. Destroyed bunkers and a scarred landscape from nonstop bombardment are just the tip of the iceberg of the details that the developers put in their maps. This is further amplified by the authentic weaponry that ranges from guns, to uniforms and of course also to the depiction and dread that armored vehicles will unleash on the battlefields of Enlisted. One thing became pretty clear to us: With Enlisted you’re getting a world war two shooter that easily tops the quality of some of the most recent AAA titles – for free. In that regard its pretty much a no-brainer and there is no good reason why you shouldn’t give this game a try. Full Review

Battle Royale – Who doesn’t love a good old Battle Royale, huh? Well, we sure do and even though these games seem to pop up everywhere now, we have to say that we haven’t seen a game like CRSED:F.O.A.D yet. This free to play title really is something else and here is why. Official CRSED:F.O.A.D TrailerPLAY ONLINE FREE Game Concept CRSED:F.O.A.D is a classic Battle Royal title. As such you spawn in with a bunch of other people in a huge arena like environment, which will continuously become smaller and smaller, forcing players to move up and eventually engage in combat with others. The winner is the last remaining survivor. Collecting weapons, equipment and armor is the key to success and only those that manage to position themselves correctly, know which fights they can take and which they better avoid, have a realistic chance at becoming the sole survivor in CRSED:F.O.A.D. Welcome to Hell’s Kitchen: So, maybe a bit of a word of warning before we start. Originally, CRSED:F.O.A.D started as a joke. We’re not kidding. This game started out as an April’s fool’s joke for the game Enlisted but became so successful in such short time, that the developers decided to turn it into a full game. A short while later we’re playing a Battle Royale that turned the genre upside down. While you’re still out there, shooting other players in order to be the last survivor – in this game you do it while wearing household items. Put a pot on your head, a pan on your back and maybe an IV bag while you’re at it. Also there is no waiting around, because the game cut the prolonged setup phase and drops you and up to 30 other players right into the world. From there on onwards the looting, the shooting and the crazy kitchen warfare ensues. All pans intended: So when everyone is wearing pans, colanders and cooking pots as helmets, what else is there? Well, for example the backpacks that you usually carry in other battle royale games are swapped out for shopping or tote bags – how fancy. By the time your character is fully geared, you look pretty much like a hobo in underwear that has strapped more than five pans and pots onto his or her body while carrying your Chanel bag full of ammunition. To top all this off map drops with high end loot are also a thing in CRSED:F.O.A.D but as you might imagine, they have also been altered in the corresponding way. Huge refrigerators are occasionally dropping from the sky, providing weaponry or buffs for the daring player who takes the risk of opening one of these highly sought after items. Wacky, but not whack: Despite all the wackiness that we saw when playing CRSED:F.O.A.D, deep down it is still a competitive Battle Royale game. You notice that for example when wearing all these “armor” items. Pots, colanders and whatnot are clunky, loud and will eventually give away your position to other players. Those who decide to carry all this additional protection will do that at a price. Aside from that the gunplay and the action itself is absolutely solid. This game might look like a joke but in terms of gameplay it sure doesn’t make any. Its fast, its competitive and its fun. Special Features of CRSED:F.O.A.DFree-to-play: Just sign up once and you are good to go. CRSED:F.O.A.D is absolutely free-to-play. Hell’s Kitchen: Get your pan ready and prepare yourself for a fast-paced Battle Royale unlike any other. Wacky, but not whack: CRSED:F.O.A.D might look goofy but the overall gameplay is rock solid and lives up to the standards of the genre.PLAY ONLINE FREE The Bottom Line When a joke goes too far it’s usually not a good thing but in this case we’re glad this joke went absolutely overboard. Otherwise we wouldn’t have played this little gem and honestly, we would’ve missed it. CRSED:F.O.A.D, despite all its wackiness, love it or hate it, is a pretty solid shooter that surpasses quite of the few of the similar titles – and most of those didn’t start as a joke, but ended as one. Warship Action Shooter – We have played the phenomenal World of Tanks and the even more spectacular World of Warplanes and thought we reached the end of a class of its own. We were so wrong. It was just a matter of time until we now got the opportunity to play the most recent free to play third person action shooter addition from Wargaming.net – World of Warships. We chartered on one of those massive steel titans and here is our report. Official World of Warships TrailerPLAY ONLINE FREE Game Concept In World of Warships you are taking control over some of the most known and most impressive Warships of the past century and the era of the Second World War. Initially you will start out on Tier 1, the lowest of the ten tiers of battleships. By participating in naval warfare with other players, you will eventually win your first few matches, receiving money and experience in return. This currency can be used to research new components for your ship or even to unlock a more advanced form of warship. Step by step you will climb the tiers and eventually be able to overpower your foes with the superior firepower with your state of the art warships. A huge collection of warships: Currently there are two and a half nations available. Why two and a half? As for now there is a huge selection of American and Japanese warships available and even a few Russian warships. Since the game is still in its beta-stages, not all of the content has been implemented into the game yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if more nations will join the game. Especially when we consider that this has been the case with World of Warplanes and World of Tanks. With more than 70 ships already, you can already imagine what size the full roster of warships might have once the game is leaving the beta. Accurate design and high level of detail: The aforementioned warships are split in four distinctive groups: Aircraft carriers, Battleships, Cruisers and Destroyers. Each of these types does serve a critical role and comes with certain edges and flaws. To get an idea of the proper use of each ship, the game does give you a brief overview of ships statistics, ranging from survivability to concealment and information on the weaponry of the specific ship. Furthermore each warship has been built with an enormous amount of detail and historical accuracy – the same accuracy and detail, which helped with the success of World of Warplanes and World of Tanks. Fluent and very polished gameplay: Something that we really did enjoy was the transitioning of these huge steel chunks into the actual gameplay. While some of the bigger ships are somewhat slow and hard to move around the coastline or other obstacles, it is just because they are so unbelievably huge. Yes, aircraft carriers and Battleships do have some serious firepower but when they are being attacked by highly mobile Cruisers and Destroyers, they really have to rely on the help of their allies. Therefore it was reassuring to witness, that the developers really did manage to assign certain roles to specific types of ships and that the game did not become a naval long range slugfest. Think I’ll pick the Soviet model today… Even proper ‘tank experts’ won’t have to worry about finding the right model for them. There are over 300 vehicles from China, Germany, France, the USSR, UK, Japan and USA for each team to choose from. Your decision doesn’t just change the appearance, but also affects your battle capabilities. Lightweight tanks are particularly useful, as they have the power to quickly and effectively reduce enemy fortifications to rubble thanks to their speed. Coordinates can then be transmitted to the rest of the team and could turn out to be game-changing. But stay out of heavy fire or you’ll quickly get turned to scrap. If you’re goal is to disable the enemy tanks from afar, then there are more effective models to choose from. Anti-tank vehicles are particularly capable of doing this thanks to their powerful artillery and are also particularly durable due to their armoured plating. But don’t get kited, as your slow speeds will end up being your downfall! Artillery units are definitely the most fragile though and can be sometimes immobilised after just one hit. They shouldn’t, however, be underestimated, as they give vital cover to the tanks at the front. Just like the anti-tank vehicles, they have the ability to fight from a distance and can cause a lot of damage. The trick here is to stay undiscovered and to operate covertly from the backlines. Explosions: Sure – Tactics: Oh yes! You’ll quickly learn in World of Tanks that tactics are half the battle. Even though you start the game the same way in all 4 game modes (Standard Battle, Encounter Battle, Assault and Historical Battle), you constantly need to think about the individual situation at hand. A game can be decided by quickly and aggressively taking over tactical and valuable positions on the map. On the other hand, if there are few possibilities for cover, it might be advantageous to let your opponent come at you, before flanking them from behind. Teamwork is everything here. Regular Patches It’s no surprise that a game with such a giant contingent of vehicles will have a constant problem with balancing them out. For example, shortly after the release of World of Tanks, many thought the artillery tanks were too powerful. The developers of this free-to-play third person tactical shooter have thankfully optimised the game by releasing a pile of patches on a regular basis. These patches don’t just contain new tanks, such as the big China Patch 8.2, but also ensure that no tanks are overpowered. It’s seldom to see a game be improved and redeveloped so frequently and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. Massive Community In the meantime, World of Tanks has become so loved by gamers, that it even earned its place in the Guinness Book of Records by having the most players on one server at the same time (190,541), beating a record they already had. In one of the most recent patches, the long-awaited Clan Wars mode was added, which enables players to join one of the many clans within World of tanks and take over maps piece by piece. Alliances with other strong clans are particularly important here, as the more power you have, the higher your regular income will be as you claim victory in battle.
